On April 19th, Lee Byung Hun shared his regrets about turning down roles in some of South Korea’s most famous movies during a conference called The Future of Hallu: Korean Cinema on the Global Stage at Stanford University.

During the event, the actor spoke about his journey of becoming an actor and shared insights into his life as an actor with the students. When asked if he regretted declining certain casting offers, he mentioned having turned down roles in director Park Chan Wook’s Old Boy and director Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite due to scheduling conflicts.

Regarding his criteria for selecting projects, the actor stated, “The feelings I get from each project are very important to me. If I feel that a script is fun, I usually go for it. I don’t hesitate to join a movie or a drama if I love the story or the director.”

Lee Byung Hun, who is set to star in Squid Game Season 2, also added, “Streaming platforms have given great opportunities for South Korean actors to advance their acting careers.”
