In a truly groundbreaking moment, BLACKPINK has added another jewel to their crown by receiving the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) from King Charles III at the Buckingham Palace in London on the 22nd (local time).

The MBE is a distinguished honor bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to British society, excelling in various fields such as politics, economics, culture, arts, science, and sports. BLACKPINK’s recognition comes as a result of their global efforts, particularly their role as ambassadors for the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), where they actively promoted awareness of the need to address climate change on a global scale.

Fifth of the five classes in the British Empire, the previous recipients include iconic artists such as The Beatles, Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Bonnie Tyler—all of whom were British. BLACKPINK’s inclusion in this prestigious list is nothing short of extraordinary, solidifying their status as global trailblazers in the entertainment industry.

The K-pop sensation has not only conquered the music scene but has also raised the bar for global advocacy.
