Up-and-coming actor Lee Do Hyun is set to make his first foray into the world of cinema with Exhuma, portraying the role of a novice shaman named Bong Gil.

Exhuma is an occult mystery film that revolves around a group consisting of a geomancer, a mortician, and shamans who face strange occurrences after being paid a hefty sum to relocate a suspicious grave.

Lee Do Hyun, having gained recognition for his exceptional acting prowess in dramas like Prison Playbook, The Glory, The Good Bad Mother, Youth of May, and Sweet Home, has now solidified his position as a sought-after actor. Significantly, Lee Do Hyun, who initially stepped into the spotlight as a high school baseball player in Prison Playbook, is now garnering attention for his first feature film Exhuma. In this film, he intriguingly plays Bong Gil, a baseball player whose career is cut short when he’s “called” to be a shaman.

Bong Gil, played by Lee Do Hyun, is a promising shaman who travels with Hwa Rim (Kim Go Eun), a shaman who saved him from his illness (when he receives “the call” to be the shaman). For the role, Lee showcases a dramatic transformation, complete with body tattoos and reciting shamanic rituals, unlike anything he has shown before.

Director Jang Jae Hyun praised the actor, stating, “I believe his synchronization with Bong Gil is about 180%. His modern looks and charisma fit the character perfectly, creating great synergy. Moreover, Lee Do Hyun possesses an incredible ability to masterfully execute the most challenging scenes as an actor.”

Meanwhile, Exhuma is scheduled for a nationwide release in theaters on February 22nd.
