Eric Nam is back with his first English album [Before We Begin]. Before We Begin encapsulates all the colorful moments of youth and love. The title song ‘Congratulations’ is a celebratory song about a break-up, which expresses the liberated feeling one experiences when an old and tiring relationship is over. Featuring lyrics such as "congratulations, you are finally leaving me, gonna have a party tonight so we can toast to the endline of you and me’, the song delivers a sense of composure and coldness as if to say a break-up does not necessarily have to be heavy.
In contrast, the track ‘Love Die Young’, which was pre-released on October 30, captured the hearts of listeners everywhere with Eric's mellow vocals and the melancholy emotions of clinging onto a fading love.
In addition to 'Love Die Young', this album includes other songs such as ‘Come Through’, which amuses listeners with its depiction of love within its earlier stages, and ‘You’re Sexy, I’m Sexy’, which whispers that love is not as difficult as one may think, while ‘Wonder’ regrets the immaturity of oneself in the past. ‘No Shame’ is an English version of ‘Honestly’ from Eric's previous album [Honestly].
